Air Conditioners may look similar, but the key to getting the best over all cost savings is in the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) ratings.
Higher SEER numbers save more money.
For example, a 13 SEER rated air conditioner uses 23% less energy than a 10 SEER unit.
13 SEER will be the minimum efficiency standard by 2006.

Important things to consider when you purchase a furnace:

  • Efficiency – indicated by the AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating, the higher the rating, the more efficient the unit.
  • Size – the size of a gas furnace refers to its heating capacity. The capacity of a heating system is measured in BTU (British Thermal Unit) per hour. In general, a unit that’s too small will lack the ability to give you the comfort you want. A unit that’s too large will cost more to buy and operate. CFB Heating & Air Conditioning can recommend you the correct size for your new furnace.
  • Cost – cost can also be affected by installation factors such as the correction of venting or ductwork problems, and the difficulty of removing the old furnace or installing the new furnace in the desired location.
  • Contractor – the most important step in replacing or upgrading your home’s heating system is choosing the right contractor to do the job. Contractors affiliated with a nationally known manufacturer, like CFB Heating & Air Conditioning, are usually a good choice because they’ve been factory trained in installation and service. They can also help you determine your comfort needs, make the right equipment choices and give you the best value for your money.

There are many water heating systems on the market and how much it will cost you depends a lot on your wise decision. Here are some questions to guide you for the next water heating system purchase:

  • Think about your hot water needs. What capacity you will need?
  • What is the most efficient unit for you? How much it will cost to buy and to operate? Your ‘up-front’ costs will include the purchase of the water heater and the unit installation cost. After that there are the ‘sustainment costs’ which include periodic maintenance and monthly fuel or energy costs. Try to determine the water heater Energy Factor, the higher the number, the better the fuel efficiency.
  • Select your energy source – Gas or Electric?
  • Check the Energy Guide label on each water heater!
  • Look for the warranty information!
  • And finally, choose the right reliable contractor to guide through this whole process – CFB Heating & Air Conditioning!

Heat Pumps

CFB Heating & Air Conditioning offers a complete line of heat pumps, for heating and cooling, which provide efficient, year round comfort.
When you shop for a heat pump, energy efficiency is important. But when making your selection, remember low operating costs are little comfort if service and repair bills are high. Don’t be sold on energy efficiency alone.

All air-conditioning and heating equipment manufacturers are required to evaluate and rate the efficiency of their equipment on a seasonal basis. These ratings are known as the SEER or, Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating, for air conditioners, and the HSPF or, Heating Seasonal Performance Factor, for heating equipment. Heat pumps use both numbers.
The higher the SEER or HSPF rating, the more efficient the heat pump. High-efficiency units cost more.

But since operating costs are lower, the payback period may be shorter than you realize.

A high SEER/HSPF heat pump also can add value to your home which is important to today’s energy-conscious home buyers.
Exterior features are important as well. Look for features such as a louvered, galvanized steel cabinet to protect the condensing unit from outdoor hazards. And make sure the cabinet is powder-painted with a high-quality enamel for improved durability and appearance. Look for copper tubing in the evaporator and condensing coil. Copper tubing is a good conductor of heat and is virtually immune to corrosion.
And unlike fragile aluminum tubing, copper tubing is relatively simple to repair in the field.
With some units, the outdoor fan can be a bothersome source of noise.

Ruud units have a grille design that minimizes air restriction which allows the fan to operate more quietly. Also, the fan is mounted on the underside of the grille. This protects it from the elements and it directs airflow upward, away from plants and shrubbery.

CFB Heating & Air Conditioning is your neighborhood reliable Ruud dealer, with plenty of well-stocked inventory of replacement parts.
